GOOGLE HOT PEPPER

Today is 22nd January and a very important day in the history of PEPPER. Its on this day 151 years back Mr.Wilbur Scoville was born and he is the first person to measure the heat of chili peppers.

Mr. Wilbur Scoville was and Amercian Pharmacist born in Bridgeport, Conneciticut, he is known for  his 1912 creation of Scoville Organoleptic Test now called the Scoville Scale. This scale is used to measure the power of various chili peppers.

As usual internet gaint google pays tribute to Scoville in its trademark doodle style in an interactive representation. We see doodle shows Scoville against a backdrop of red chili forming the word GOOGLE and also holding one in his hand, as if about to eat it.

Just click the button on the doodle, we see Scoville eating different chili pepper to find out the heat content, and every time this makes a way for a small game, when he pops a pepper into his mouth.

Milk is an nntidote for pepper heat and the same is mentioned in Scoville’s book, The Art of Compunding
